Ceiling speakers are much the same as in-wall speakers.
Since they usually weigh less and are less obvious than in-wall speakers, they work well in ceiling applications,
or when wall space is at a minimum.
The size of the woofer rather than the dimensions of the actual speaker itself also classifies these speakers,
usually round in shape. Like in-wall speakers, special “dog ears” flip out and fasten the speaker to the drywall,
adjacent stud, or a special frame attached to the studs. Special brackets can also be purchased for a more secure fit or
for lighter wall materials that require more support.
